Loose Leash Walking
Polite leash walking does not come naturally to most dogs. Just as with any skill, walking on a loose or slack leash must be taught, and practiced. The primary learner here is the human on the other end of the leash! In this workshop, consisting of 3 classes, we will focus on one skill…walking nicely on a leash. Through games and exercises (yes, you will be given homework), you will be taught proactive measures to prevent your dog from pulling, as well as things you can do if/when he does pull. The first 2 classes will take place at the training center. Depending upon the size of the class and how well the dogs are doing, the third class may be held offsite for practice in “the real world”. In this class, you may use a flat buckled or rolled collar, martingale collar and/or a harness (preferably with a front and back clip). Choke chains, prong collars, shock or bark collars are not allowed.
